SECONDARY SCHOOL (ICSE - Std IX and X)
About the Curriculum
The ICSE (Std IX & X) comes under the aegis of the CISCE Board, New Delhi. This premier national board believes in the excellence and depth of its curriculum and syllabus and in keeping apace or even anticipating the changing and challenging times that lie ahead.
The curriculum throughout the primary and secondary years has been designed to culminate in an exam in accordance with the recommendations of the National Policy on Education, 1986.
The candidates appearing for the ICSE Public Exam must have successfully completed courses in a minimum of six subjects and Socially Useful and Productive Work(SUPW)
At which they appear for a minimum of six subjects and Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service.
Subjects for the Examination
Group I (Compulsory)
1. English
2. Second Language - Hindi
3. History Civics & Geography
Group II (Any two of the following subjects)
1. Mathematics/ Economics
2. Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) OR
3. Commercial Studies
Group III (Any one of the following subjects)
1. Technical Drawing Applications
2. Computer Applications
3. Physical Education
NOTE :
The Subjects from Group III cannot be taken along with Corresponding Subjects in Group II of the curriculum.
Features of the ICSE Curriculum
One of the main features of the curriculum at Shri Balaji International School is that it conforms to the syllabus and yet promotes creativity and application of knowledge. This stimulates understanding and out-of-the-box thinking. Adequate attention is given to the learning needs of the students who have unique strengths and areas of development.
Students are given the freedom to choose the subjects they want out of the available options. There is always time for games, sports and extracurricular activities as they contribute to their all-round development.
Well ventilated, classrooms provide a conducive environment for the academic efforts at this stage. The school has well-equipped science laboratories and one computer lab with state-of-the-art computers. For the Science students practicals in all three subjects of science are a regular feature of the time table.
Shri Balaji International School provides its pupils access to the best in technology, supervised by an expert and committed staff.
Internal Assessment constitutes 20% of marks in every subject. Projects, assignments, educational visits provide the basis for these marks and they are varied and arouse enthusiasm. Every project or assignment is thought provoking and the student has to go beyond the textbook. Tests covering small units are held regularly and help children in coping with the syllabus.
The first batch of students of Shri Balaji International School graduated in March 2005. The school has since gone from strength to strength.

In class 9, students are required to opt for subjects mentioned by the Council for the I.C.S.E. examination.
SPORTS :
Regular coaching is held for the following games such as Throw ball, Basketball, Badminton, Volley Ball, Football, Cricket, Table Tennis and Chess after school 1.15 to 3.15 p.m. from June to January for class 3 to 9.
